چکیده

Objectives: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by diversity of the phenotypes among patients. SLE still one great challenges due to lacking specific biomarkers for diagnosis, assessing activity, and prediction response therapy. This study aimed investigate role circulating levels IRF5 protein in sample Iraqi patients its correlation with identify potential immunological biomarker mirror activity.
Methods: Blood samples were taken from 59 participants diagnosed cases classified according American College Rheumatology (ACR) criteria. They scored through activity index 2000 (SLEDAI-2K) estimate it they subdivided into “SLE-1 group” (SLEDAI-2k ≤5), “SLE-2 >5), as well age gender matched healthy control group. Circulating measured sera ELISA method.
Results: Our result revealed that significantly higher SLE-2 group rather than (p<0.01), while there was non-significant difference between SLE-1 (p>0.05), both patient groups. Moreover, found be correlated positively The other parameters significant positive ESR globulins, negative Hb (albumin/ globulin) ratio, urea, creatinine, uric acid. analysis receiver operator curves (ROC) groups showed good accuracy distinguish individuals (AUC=0.758, sensitivity=65.5%, specificity=69%,), (AUC=0.788, sensitivity=77.3%, specificity=72.0%,), respectively.
Conclusions: correlate reflects possibility using monitoring activity.

Serum interferon levels in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus.

Levels of interferon (IFN) were measured in 81 serum samples from 23 patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) by a plaque-reduction method and correlated retrospectively with clinical records of disease activity, anti-DNA binding, and serum complement measurements. IFN titers were found to correlate with both clinical disease activity and anti-DNA binding, but no relation was found to s...

Coronary heart disease in systemic lupus erythematosus is associated with interferon regulatory factor-8 gene variants.

BACKGROUND Patients with systemic lupus erythematosus have increased morbidity and mortality in coronary heart disease (CHD). We asked whether there was a genetic influence on CHD in systemic lupus erythematosus. METHODS AND RESULTS The association between single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and CHD in 2 populations of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus was assessed. Patients were ...

Acetylator phenotype in Iraqi patients with systemic lupus erythematosus.

The study was designed to determine the acetylator status in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and compare it to a matched group of healthy volunteers. Disease severity was determined using the revised American College of Rheumatology criteria for classification and the SLE disease activity index. After an overnight fast, each participant received a single oral dose of 100 mg dap...

Interferon Regulatory Factor 5 in the Pathogenesis of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease characterized by multiple genetic risk factors, high levels of interferon alpha (IFN-α), and the production of autoantibodies against components of the cell nucleus. Interferon regulatory factor 5 (IRF5) is a transcription factor which induces the transcription of IFN-α and other cytokines, and genetic variants of IRF5 have been strong...
